Several pieces of correspondence from John Tenniel relating to the Alice illustrations can be found on website. Details and links to these are provided on a separate webpage.

The Catalogue of the Dalziel Archive at the British Museum

The British Museum holds 49 albums of proofs of wood-engravings by the Dalziel brothers, which include proof printings of all the Alice illustrations. For some of the illustrations there are two proofs showing the illustrations in an intermediate stage of engraving. Also included is a variant version of one of the illustrations for Through the Looking-Glass, which was ultimately rejected. All pages of all albums have been scanned and catalogued and available for viewing online. The Carroll-related images can easily be located through links in the "Illustrations" section of our website.
